Two Week Lockdown in Dubai as Gulf States battle for Coronavirus

Dubai goes on two-week lockdown and Saudi Arabia sealed off the parts of the Red Sea city of Jeddah as the Gulf States taken tightened measures to contain the spread of coronavirus. As per the reports, Saudi Arabia is the worst hit and reported 2,179 confirmed infections cases with 29 death.
While the areas of Dubai has gone an overnight curfew and the rest of United Arab Emirates since March 26. The Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management said about the lockdown for two weeks now.
In Dubai, the movement will be restricted and the lawful action will be taken against one not being true to word. While apart from that the essential services along with supermarkets and pharmacies, as well as the food and delivery would go on normal operations, WAM said.
The committee said on a statement that the measures are implemented in cooperation with others working hard to combat the pandemic, including the Command and Control Centre for combating COVID-19, ensuring the highest level of protection and prevention.
“Saudi Arabia and its neighbourhood authorities announced a lockdown or the partial curfew in the seven neighbourhoods of Jeddah, as a part of the measures to contain the outbreak.”
Citizens can only let go of their homes for the essential purpose and only one of the family member is allowed to go outside at one time. While people working in the vital sectors are free from the restrictions. Alongside the Dubai metro and the tram services are being suspended for two weeks of the lockdown situation.
Exceptions from the restrictions
Citizens are permitted to leave their home only for the essential purpose, while one should wear a mask, gloves and should ensure to keep a safe distance from one other. Members are only allowed to go out for:
- Essential needs including buying food supplies (Cooperative stores, supermarket and groceries) and only one of the family member is allowed to leave the premises.
- Buying Medicines / getting medical assistance from the healthcare services such as hospital, clinics and pharmacies.
- COVID-19 tests
On the other hand, people working in the vital sector are permitted to leave from the house, as they exempted from the restriction 24 hours a day. The people working in healthcare services, food supply outlets, Manufacturers of medicines and providers of healthcare and medical supplies, Telecommunication sector, Media sector, Customer duty and border crossing and the private security services.
While Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management strictly suggests adhering the guidelines to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the community.
